About Us
Procedures for First Visit
If your doctor has recommended that you see a specialist in our office, the following information will help you plan for your appointment.
Depending on the nature of your visit, you may be in our office for three hours or longer. When you arrive, you will be asked to complete a registration form. Please bring your insurance cards and any required HMO referral forms. Before seeing the physician, you will spend some time with an ophthalmic technician reviewing your basic medical history. Please bring your glasses, a list of all medications and drops you are currently using, along with the name and address of your internist or family doctor. Also, one or more diagnostic tests may be performed before or after you see the physician. If necessary, the physician may begin your treatment the same day or reschedule it for a later date.
If
you have a retina problem, your eyes need to be fully dilated for a detailed retinal
exam. Following the exam you may need a dye test (fluorescein angiography)
and/or laser treatment on the same visit. These procedures may require additional
time. Although most patients are able to drive after their visit, we recommend
that you bring someone to drive you home, especially on the first visit.
